As a fully covered yet open-air arena, capable of hosting events all year round regardless of weather, the 5000-seat Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island (the new name for the then-Boardwalk Amphitheater) is the very first of its kind in the Tri-State area! The facility is located on the island’s famous boardwalk, and with its elaborate and ornamental exterior architecture, includes the well-known1923 standalone restaurant Childs Building. With the tagline “The Rendezvous of the Elite,” the restaurant had thrived previously due to the ease of access to crowds coming from the subway. When incorporated into the Ford Amphitheater, the Child’s Building was extensively restored and renovated, reopening in 2017 as Kitchen 21, and is now almost as big an attraction in its own regard as the events happening at the venue itself! The building also features an additional performance space for the Ford Amphitheater venue.
